PROJECT DETAILS
The construction of sewer access manholes in the Doha Industrial area using precast concrete manhole sections jointed with Densostrip Tropical™. Densostrip Tropical is a rubber bitumen jointing strip designed for precast concrete units such as box culverts and manhole rings.
This project involved the sealing of 1,500 manhole joints ranging from 1,200mm to 1,800mm in diameter.
Prior to system approval the Densostrip™ Primer and Densostrip Tropical underwent 3rd Party Bureau Veritas Inspection. The results of this inspection determined that the water leakage test was found satisfactory.
Outline of Inspection activities carried out are as follows:
Manhole Internal Diameter = 1,800mm.
Test Effective height = 4 x 1.2 – 4.8-meter manholes.
Static Water Head = 0.47 Bar.
Test Duration = 24 hours.

Under pressure, Densostrip Tropical deforms through the joint to form a watertight flexible seal between the precast units
